Dan noticed something was missing during his time in high school. It was 2003 and everyone – students, parents, teachers – everyone was stressed out. The mental health crisis had begun. Students were lost, parents didn’t know the system, and school counselors had no time. How could they? They managed a case load of 500:1, while the lone college counselor had 2,000+.
A common tragedy:
High school students receive only 30 minutes of one-on-one time to discuss college counseling.
After leaving Google in 2012, Dan sought to change the system. He started ReadyEdgeGo to better support not just students but parents and school counselors.
ReadyEdgeGo has since empowered thousands of students, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is now partnering with school districts and nonprofits to foster a high school experience that all students feel supported in.
ReadyEdgeGo invests in students’ long-lasting success by connecting college-bound advising with wellness and self-discovery.
In fact, students who understand what real wellness is all about shape themselves into the kind of unique, insightful candidates that top colleges are looking for. You don’t have to win every award, take every AP class, lead every student organization, or excel at every sport. All you have to do is understand how colleges define uniqueness and depth of being, and then go hard after discovering and developing your natural interests.
